Raise Your Hand – A Moment of Gratitude

To those of you who raise your hand,

Give up your time and make a stand.

Juggle through life with many balls in the air,

Doing more than enough of your fair share.

Finding many hours to give and not take,

Cooking a sizzle of sausage or sandwich of steak.

National Volunteer’s Week is currently underway,

A time where most of you would be working anyway.

To all the others who speak but don’t speak up,

Take notice of the people with the overflowing cup.

For these are the ones that make things go,

Doing lots of work that mostly goes unknown.

To those of you who raise your hand,

Give up your time and make a stand.

This blog is in recognition of all that you give,

If this isn’t you, then raise your hand and see how the other half live.

In a nutshell…

Every club – be it soccer or swimming, hockey or knitting – needs people with passion to make things happen.

We all know that many people are willing to complain, but not many are willing to help out.

Take notice and show gratitude for the people that make time in their lives to keep the balls rolling for the wider community.

A wise man once said “If you think you can help or do better, raise your hand. If you will not raise your hand to help, then place it over your mouth.” – BB
